The Word converter reads individual PDF text items rather than turning each page into a picture. The resulting DOCX remains editable in Microsoft Word and compatible document editors.
When the source PDF exposes font information, the converter attempts to preserve the detected font family, text size, bold weight, italic style, line indentation, and vertical spacing.
Why Formatting May Still Change
A PDF stores text using fixed page coordinates rather than editable Word paragraphs. Some PDFs also use embedded subset fonts with internal names that do not correspond to fonts installed on the user's computer.
Word may substitute a similar font when the original PDF font is not available. Complex tables, columns, text boxes, vector objects, overlapping text, and decorative page layouts can also differ after conversion.
Scanned PDFs
Image-only scanned PDFs do not contain editable text information. Use PDF OCR first, then convert the searchable PDF to Word.
